In the climactic sequence, the Typhoon Devil is defeated in spectacular fashion. Most notably, Reze herself meets her end: after her hybrid identity is exposed, she is intercepted by Makima—with the Angel Devil’s assistance—and killed just as she attempts to rendezvous with Denji.

These deaths aren’t mere spectacle. They act as emotional pivots: Denji, and the audience, must confront the cost of this devil-hunter world, the fragility of trust, and the weight of loss.

Who is Reze and what was her plan in Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc?

Reze appears initially as a gentle café employee who catches Denji’s attention. However, her facade cracks quickly. She is revealed to be a hybrid: part human, part Bomb Devil, gifted explosive powers, and entangled in a clandestine experiment to create super-soldier devil hybrids.

Her mission? Get close to Denji, win his heart, extract his “Chainsaw Man” power. The romance is a cover, the betrayal real.
But the film leaves a lingering question: was there something genuine between her and Denji, or was the mission always first? Reze becomes both predator and victim, love interest and lethal threat.
