Dan Stevens Wants to Play Bond Villain, Not 007
According to Backstage, actor Dan Stevens, who has been considered a contender for the role of James Bond, has expressed more interest in playing a villain in the 007 franchise than the iconic spy himself.
Speaking to Backstage, Stevens addressed the reports of him being a possible candidate to succeed Daniel Craig as Bond. “I don’t quite know why that role has become the benchmark of total success, you know?” he said, questioning the coveted status of the role.

A Different Perspective on James Bond’s Allure
While acknowledging his love for the Bond movies, Stevens suggested that he would rather portray a villain, saying, “I think I’d rather be a villain.” He further expressed his bewilderment at the phenomenon of actors pursuing the role as a sign of ultimate success, stating, “It’s a strange phenomenon that it’s become the thing that must be achieved, because there’s so much else out there that you can get your teeth into.”
As speculation continues regarding the next actor to take on the mantle of 007, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has emerged as a potential frontrunner. Reports suggest that Taylor-Johnson has met with producer Barbara Broccoli about the role and may have even been offered the part, though no official confirmation has been made.
