Key Points:
- Pedro Pascal revealed he had to back out of a supporting role in Marvel’s Daredevil to take the lead in Narcos
- Pascal was going to test for a lawyer character in Daredevil when the bigger Narcos opportunity came along
- After Narcos, Pascal landed major roles like The Mandalorian and may soon join the MCU as Reed Richards
During a recent career retrospective, Pedro Pascal opened up about a pivotal decision early in his career – choosing the Netflix series Narcos over a supporting part in Marvel’s Daredevil. The role would have marked Pascal’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the opportunity to lead Narcos was an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Why Pedro Pascal Turned Down Daredevil Role for Narcos?
According to Pascal, he auditioned for both Narcos and Daredevil around the same time. For Daredevil, he was up for a supporting lawyer character he couldn’t recall the name of. “It was like a supporting character [for Daredevil]… He was a lawyer, I can’t remember the name…” Pascal said.
Pascal was set to test for the Daredevil role when Narcos came back with an offer for him to take on the lead part of DEA agent Javier Peña after initially passing on him. It forced Pascal to choose between the two Netflix shows.
“So, I was going to test for that role, and so, to intercept the test, they ended up offering me the Narcos [role]. It was like Netflix against Netflix,” Pascal explained of having to back out of Daredevil.
