PlayStation State of Play September 2024: The Ultimate Recap of All Announcements

Also announced was a limited edition Fortnite-themed DualSense wireless controller, featuring characters Fishstick and Peely, which will release on November 7.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Aloy returns in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, launching on October 31 for PS5 and PC. This remaster features upgraded visuals, enhanced motion capture, and re-recorded dialogues, bringing it up to par with Horizon Forbidden West. Guerrilla Studio’s Jan-Bart van Beek gave more insight into how the remaster pushes the game’s technical limits on modern hardware.

Alan Wake 2: The Lake House Expansion

Next month, dive into the horror with Alan Wake 2: The Lake House, set in the eerie surroundings of Cauldron Lake. Players will explore a mysterious facility where reckless experiments have caused reality to collide with darkness, leading to a catastrophic event. The expansion promises intense survival horror gameplay with new twists.

ArcheAge Chronicles

The latest installment in the ArcheAge series was revealed – ArcheAge Chronicles. This online action RPG will feature expansive exploration, intense combat, and deep storytelling when it releases on PS5 next year. Expect a new era of adventure as you journey into this exciting universe.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

EA delivered a stunning gameplay reveal for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, scheduled to launch on October 31 for PS5. In addition to the showcased gameplay, a deep-dive video was shared, giving players even more details about the game’s expansive world and mechanics.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest installment in the Monster Hunter series, set to release on February 28, 2025. The trailer featured the first look at the flagship monster, the “White Wraith,” and new environments. The Deluxe Edition, which includes exclusive content, is also available for pre-order.

Lunar Remastered Collection

The legendary Lunar JRPG series is returning to PlayStation with the Lunar Remastered Collection, launching in Spring 2025. This collection brings together Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, enhanced with modern visuals and improved quality-of-life features for today’s gamers.

Metro Awakening

Metro Awakening was announced for PS VR2, releasing on November 7. Written by Dmitry Glukhovsky, this VR game explores the origin story of Khan, one of the franchise’s beloved characters, as he ventures into the unknown to find his wife. Players will experience the iconic Metro series’ immersive gameplay with full PS VR2 integration.

Fear the Spotlight

For horror fans, Fear the Spotlight will launch on October 22 for PS5 and PS4. Drawing inspiration from classic PlayStation-era horror games, this title will creep into players’ hearts just in time for Halloween. The developers shared more about the design inspirations and gameplay during the event.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Koei Tecmo revealed Dynasty Warriors: Origins, launching January 17, 2025 on PS5. This hack-and-slash adventure will introduce players to a nameless hero battling through the Three Kingdoms era of Ancient China. More details were teased in a PS Blog post from the development team, offering insights into the game’s storyline.

PlayStation Plus – October Lineup

State of Play also showcased next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup. Subscribers will be able to play WWE 2K24, Dead Space, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus starting on October 1. Additionally, The Last of Us Part I will be added to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers this Thursday, September 26. Classic PlayStation titles Dino Crisis and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain will also be joining the PlayStation Plus Premium catalog later this year.

Hell is Us

Hell is Us, an intriguing PS5 action-adventure title, made its first gameplay debut. Known for its player-driven exploration and minimal hand-holding, this game promises a deep, immersive experience where players must rely on their observations to navigate its dark and mysterious world.

Stellar Blade – NieR: Automata DLC

Fans of Stellar Blade were thrilled by the announcement of an upcoming DLC collaboration with NieR: Automata. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered

Aspyr celebrated the 25th anniversary of Legacy of Kain by announcing remastered versions of Soul Reaver 1 & 2. The remastered editions will launch on December 10 for PS4 and PS5, bringing the beloved classics back with modern enhancements while preserving the spirit of the originals.

Fantasian Neo Dimension

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the legendary creator behind Final Fantasy, brings his latest RPG, Fantasian Neo Dimension, to PS5 on December 5. In an exclusive interview, Sakaguchi shared insights into the game’s hand-crafted dioramas, evolving RPG genre elements, and more.

Hitman World of Assassination – PlayStation VR 2

PlayStation VR 2 fans can look forward to the World of Assassination coming to PS VR2 this December. With 21 locations, full dual wielding, and intuitive gestures, this VR version will allow players to step into the shoes of Agent 47 like never before.

Sonic X Shadow Generations: The Year of Shadow Continues

The latest Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC for Sonic X Shadow Generations arrives on December 12 for PS5 and PS4. This exciting tie-in to the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film brings fresh content featuring fan-favorite characters.

Towers of Aghasba

The vibrant world of Towers of Aghasba was also featured in today’s showcase. This open-world adventure combines city-building, combat, and ecosystem development into one immersive experience. The game is slated for Early Access in November on PS5.

The Midnight Walk

The Midnight Walk is a dark fantasy adventure coming to PS5 and PS VR2 in Spring 2025. Developed by Moonhood, this eerie tale follows Potboy, a lantern-bearing guide, as he leads players through five hauntingly beautiful stories. Every asset in the game was sculpted in clay and scanned into the game, giving it a distinctive handcrafted feel.

Palworld

The open-world, survival crafting game Palworld launches today on PS5. Players can collect and battle mysterious creatures called “Pals,” with the game supporting up to 32 players for cooperative gameplay.
