During a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Emily Blunt candidly discussed the challenges of faking chemistry with certain co-stars over the years. The Oscar-nominated actress has worked with numerous high-profile leading men, including Matt Damon, Tom Cruise, Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Gosling, and Cillian Murphy.

According to Variety, when asked by Stern if she had ever wanted to “throw up” while kissing a male co-star, Blunt admitted, “Absolutely. Absolutely.” She clarified, “I wouldn’t say it’s sort of extreme loathing, but I’ve definitely not enjoyed some of it.”

While declining to name specific co-stars, Blunt acknowledged the challenges of generating on-screen chemistry, stating, “Sometimes it’s a strange thing. Sometimes you could have a rapport that’s really effortless, but it doesn’t translate onscreen.”

Blunt explained her strategy for building chemistry, saying, “I’ve got to find something I love about everybody. I have to find something … Even if it’s one thing.” She cited appreciating a co-star’s laugh, how they speak to others, or their politeness as potential connection points.

“It might be something random,” Blunt added. “But find something you love about that person or something you love about them as the character and then kind of lean into that.”

The actress, who earned an Oscar nomination for her role in Oppenheimer, is currently starring in the action romance The Fall Guy alongside Ryan Gosling.
